What are the benefits of a resin driveway?

driveway durability

Very hard wearing

A Resin Driveway is an excellent choice for homeowners looking for a durable and long-lasting solution for their driveway. It is made from a mixture of aggregate stones and resin, which creates a hard-wearing surface that can withstand heavy use. Additionally, resin driveways are UV-resistant, meaning they will not fade or degrade when exposed to sunlight, making them an ideal option for outdoor areas.

wheelchair friendly driveways

Wheelchair friendly

A resin-bound driveway is an excellent choice for aesthetics and practicality, especially for wheelchair users. Unlike a gravel driveway, it doesn't have loose stones, which can be challenging for wheelchair users. This makes the resin-bound driveway visually appealing, more accessible, and user-friendly for individuals with mobility needs.

no planning permission for driveways

No planning permission

When installing or considering a resin-bound driveway, it's important to note that, in most cases, you do not need to apply for planning permission. This makes the installation process more convenient and straightforward for homeowners.

drainage for resin driveways

Free draining

Our Resin-Bound Surfaces are specifically designed to allow water to drain freely through them, which helps prevent flooding and water accumulation. Additionally, our surfaces fully comply with Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS) regulations, ensuring they meet the necessary environmental and sustainability standards.

eco-friendly driveways

Eco friendly

Resin-bound surfaces are an environmentally friendly option for outdoor areas. They offer excellent drainage properties that can help prevent flooding. Additionally, they can be constructed using recycled materials, making them a sustainable choice for various projects.

easy maintenance of driveways

Easy to maintain

Resin-bound Permeable Paving is a low-maintenance paving solution that allows for water drainage. Its porous surface can be easily cleaned with a pressure washer or a stiff broom, making it great for removing leaves, dirt, and debris. This type of paving is durable and environmentally friendly, as it allows water to pass through, reducing runoff and helping prevent flooding.

Why resin is so popular

Resin driveways come in a wide choice of colours and have no loose stones, making them puddle free and weed resistant. They are also weather resistant and won’t soften in the summer, fade in the sun or freeze in winter. Resin can be easily laid over exis8ng concrete or tarmac surfaces, making for quick and simple installation whilst still achieving a stunning result. We are so confident of our quality, we offer a 10-year guarantee on any resin driveway.

How much does it cost?

The cost of installing a new Resin-Bound Driveway, Path, or Patio can vary depending on several factors. These factors include the colour and type of resin used, the size of the area, whether the area needs to be extended, and whether a full excavation of the ground is required if there is no existing driveway.

Additional factors to consider include the potential need to remove trees or shrubbery, rebuild or add old walls, install new steps, brickwork, gate posts, or brick piers, and the desired type of brick or concrete edging. Resin driveways typically use two types of resin: Aliphatic or Aromatic (UV or non-UV)

.Pinner Paving uses UV Aliphatic Resin in every installation and is the only company to use a UKAS-certified Resin-Bound System. Other considerations include the condition of the existing surface, such as concrete or tarmac, and whether it can support an installation on top. This is usually cheaper than starting from scratch, for instance, turning a lawned area into a resin driveway, path, or patio.

Listed below are some expected costs for 2023:

- installation on an existing solid and good-condition surface (e.g., concrete or tarmac): £50-£80 per m², depending on resin type and stone colour

- full excavation works: £120-£150 per m²

- edgings: £12-£40 per linear meter

- tree and shrub removal: Up to £500 or more, depending on quantity and required machinery

- new wall and steps: £1500-£2500, depending on whether the wall needs to be retained and the number of courses

- two elegant brick piers: £400-£800

These prices are rough guide prices for a new resin driveway in 2024.

Frequently asked questions

Is is suitable for vehicles?

Our Resin-Bound Permeable Paving is engineered to withstand heavy traffic, making it ideal for high-traffic areas like bus lanes. Its durable design ensures that it can endure the constant weight and movement of buses and other vehicles without compromising its integrity or aesthetic appeal.

Is the resin toxic?

Once installed, our resin-bound permeability pavement is inherently non-reactive. It utilises a resin blend incorporating natural plant extracts as an essential component, making it environmentally friendly and safe for surrounding areas.

At what depth is it usually laid?

The appropriate application depth for loose gravel depends on the specific application and the aggregate size. Applying a depth of around 15-20mm for vehicular use is generally recommended on top of an asphalt or concrete base. A slightly shallower depth of 9-12mm is typically sufficient for pedestrian use. Considering the intended purpose and traffic load when determining the appropriate depth for applying loose gravel is essential.

Can I do it myself?

When considering paving your driveway, we offer Driveway Kits for smaller do-it-yourself projects. However, we highly recommend using our professional installation team for more extensive projects exceeding 25m². Our experienced team with 18 years of expertise ensures a smooth finish, especially as the material sets, making it difficult to achieve a professional look without their expertise.

How long will it last?

Our ten-year guarantee backs our Resin-Bound Driveways, and their durable resin technology indicates that they are expected to maintain their integrity for over 25 years.

How long does it take to cure?

Your Resin-Bound Permeable Paving should be fully cured after 24 hours. However, it will suit pedestrian traffic after just 4-6 hours. For light vehicular use, waiting 12-16 hours before driving on the surface is recommended. Please note that these times may be longer during the winter due to the colder weather conditions.

How do I keep it clean?

Your new Resin-Bound Driveway offers exceptional ease of maintenance and requires very little upkeep. It can be effortlessly cleaned using a pressure washer or a simple stiff broom. Additionally, you can restore the stone to its original pristine condition by employing a mild detergent, such as washing up liquid. This makes it a convenient and durable choice for your driveway.

Can I use the resin with my aggregate?

Yes, in principle, we can consider using the aggregate you supply. However, it's important to note that all our stones undergo a rigorous screening, cleaning, and drying process to ensure the highest quality standards are met. Therefore, any aggregate you provide must meet our minimum quality standards. Please get in touch with us if you require any further information or have other inquiries.
